Yoga Classes

a3efc9b572663a8dac0432689093bbb3Yoga has become one of the most popular forms of fitness in America. And for good reason. The research continues to provide evidence of all the many benefits of practicing yoga regularly.

Yoga helps dampen the body’s stress response by reducing levels of the hormone cortisol and boosts levels of the feel-good brain chemicals like GABA, serotonin, and dopamine.

Yoga actually stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which directs blood toward endocrine glands, digestive organs, and lymphatic circulation, while heart rate and blood pressure are lowered.

Yoga balances the body, the hormonal system, and the stress response. People tend to think of yoga as being all about flexibility – it’s not.  It’s about rebalancing and healing the body.

When combined with meditation we’re training our awareness to attend to the flow of thoughts, feelings and sensations in the body.

If you are on the fence about trying it out for the first time, know that it may take some time to find the teacher who really speaks to YOU in a way that you can hear, but once you do, be prepared to feel stronger, more secure, and, in many cases, ridiculously fortunate and thrilled to know the strength in your body and mind that comes with a consistent practice.

Here at The Yoga Experience we offer a variety of yoga classes with our own unique blend of styles. Some of the classes are listed below, but check the schedule often because we add and rotate classes frequently to keep it fresh and challenging.

Here you’ll start by learning basic yoga poses and end with 10 to 15 minutes of meditation. Don’t worry about getting the postures at this point. That will come with practice. The main thing is to move and have fun.

Warm yoga

Warm Yoga

It can be any type of Yoga with heat. Warm classes are done in a room with the temperature set to 80-85 degrees. The warm temperature enhances muscle and joint flexibility allowing some to perform the postures more easily. Also, if you enjoy a good sweat you’ll get it in any of the warm yoga classes. The class schedule indicates which classes are warm.

Vinyasa Flow YogaFlow

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is like a free form dance. Each posture flows into the next. The mind has only time to focus on the postures so it is like a moving meditation. This is a faster pace of Yoga and knowing the basics is very helpful to take this class but anyone is welcome to come to any class and to do their best.
